Legend of The Guardian: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole

MV5BMjE0NjA5OTA4N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwODA3MTA3Mw@@._V1._SX214_CR0,0,214,314_

There… This sort of movie is not exactly in my list of ‘must-watch’ movies.. But my friend said it’s nice if you watch it in 3D. Unfortunately, after being ‘conned’ several times by movies like Resident Evil: Afterlife and Step-Up 3D.. I’ve decided to go for the cheaper ticket, so I wouldn’t come out of the cinema feeling like an idiot.

Synopsis

There this naive little  owl, Soren and his brother Kludd was kidnapped by the evil forces of St.Angie’s where orphaned owls are turned into their soldiers. Soren escaped and with the help of his friends, they are off to find the Guardian living in the tree of Ga’Hoole.

Review..

Ok  how do I start.. ?? Let's just start with what annoys me the most in the entire movie. These owls have practically been very strong British accent that got me struggling to make out what they're trying to say. I checked and found out that this movie is actually made in the US so why is the accent necessary?

The storyline and the movie plot is something that I have always looked forward to into , no matter what kind of movie it is, if the plot doesn’t seem impressive enough then I think the film would surely be a let-down. That’s MY opinion.

However, the plot I must say.. does not impress me at all.. It’s so dull and boring that I nearly fell asleep inside the cinema. I think anyone of you could have figured the whole course of the movie by the time you sit in there for about 20 minutes. However, it would still serve as an entertainment as a family-film.

Next, it’s about the CGI effects. The computer effects are quite detailed and stunning (if you watch it in 3D). As for normal screen, I find it acceptable when it comes to the owls and the environment and sort, it’s been an easy job for the movie industry these days. Even so there are parts of the movie, which could have been made better in order to improvise the movie.

Finally, it’s a movie that I would suggest friends or couples to watch, but if you have a family with children then this movie will serve it’s purpose.

Devil (2010)

indexI don't usually watch horror/thriller movies in the cinemas because I feel stupid to pay and get yourself scared.

This story is written M.Night Shymalan, the very same person who did Sixth Sense, The Village and the Last Airbender..

Brief Synopsis

5 different person got trapped inside the elevator with a devil among them.

Review

Look at the plot.. we have 5 people trapped in a small elevator with a devil among them. How is such a plot going to expand other than mindless killing, which is surely to expose the killer who eventually kills the suspense and ends as one of the stupidest movies ever made..

However, HEY.. I WAS WRONG…

I was really taken aback by how good the movie turns out to be. In fact, I think it’s one of the best thrillers of the year. Last year was Saw VI :)

To be honest, I’m extremely annoyed by the poor acting. It really got me irritated up until the middle of the film, But as soon as the plot began to develop, I am too dwelt into the movie to care about their acting.

I’m not if they censored any of the gruesome scenes, but I don’t find it too violent after all. Lucky thing they did not include any of those super senseless killings like we used to see in American horror films that could ultimately destroy the whole purpose of making a movie.

Maybe because I’m watching it on the big screen, I find this movie suspenseful enough to keep me occupied the whole course of the movie. Nevertheless, of course, you shouldn’t be expecting quality of horror like ‘6th Sense’ because that was classic. The final part was a surprise. I mean that’s the only part which is worth gave me a fright. Man, these directors is really good at making ‘ending’ these days.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a good horror film which decent sense, plot and a message to deliver then this is a film for you. Even so, if you just want to get yourself frightened then go for some crappy korean/japanese horror. They are always capable of scaring you from their senseless storyline.

They should be making more movies like this.

Resident Evil: Afterlife (3D)

Resident-Evil-4-Afterlife-PosterBeen a long time since I edited this blog.. Got caught up with life,,

Well let's start with this popular Game-Movie franchise ‘Resident Evil’ where many people have been anticipating the whole yearlong.

Brief Synopsis

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive at the city is overran by thousands of Undead - and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Review

This movie has a pretty ‘cool’ action scenes during the beginning. I thought the whole movie was going to end there, but it was twisted and the story began to develop.

Well, one thing that I liked about this movie is that they have good story/film development in the middle, and did not rush things like any other game-movie genre. Furthermore, I took a liking on how the producers are killing people off without any warning, which could serve  good suspense to the audiences An. bonus  is that they included the monsters from RE5 into the film.. which has a mixed response  from the viewer.

However, I find myself wasted the extra bucks for watching 3D because I can only find significant scenes where I can really feel the 3D effects, and the rest is not much a different from a 2D screen.

Finally, I would not suggest people to go for the 3D because it's a totally waste of time and strength,  but overall its still a watchable movie, i mean watchable as in normal quality. But would still serve as a good entertainment to the audience.

Vampires Suck! Hell Yeah

KeyartThis is a parody that I have been waiting for. Now let those vampire-haters out there have their revenge.

A Brief Synopsis

A spoof of vampire-themed movies, where teenager Becca finds herself torn between two boys. As she and her friends wrestle with a number of different dramas, everything comes to a head at their prom.

Review..

HA HA  A parody that i would like to praise ever since the making of “Scary Movie” franchise. This is a movie worth watching for all those die-hard vampire haters out there but to those ‘Twilight’ fans, it's better you refrain from  watching a movie that would likely break your heart into a million pieces :)

OK, now I would say this parody has some really unexpected funny scenes that made me laugh from the beginning right up to the end. The ‘jokes’ weren't over made like some other parody but still able to deliver some good laughs.

The casts could  put up some good acting as well, something you rarely see in most parodies. In fact, I hope to find a few of them turning into big stars later.

VAMPIRES SUCK VAMPIRES SUCK

What surprises me the most, is the casts especially Jacob and Edwards that look so identical to the original movie actor Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Somehow, I find these 'Vampires suck' actors are much better looking than the original ones.

Finally, what impresses me is that they could  match the ending part with a good flow of scenes in the beginning. Watch it and you’ll get what I mean.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

600full-the-shawshank-redemption-poster BEHOLD! The highest rated film in IMDB !

Frankly, i had not read about the synopsis before starting to watch this. I was worried that I’m going to be bored to death as the film goes on, we all know some of the famous movies are known for being too long-winded and dull. Somehow, after the first few minutes, i was magnetized till the end.

A Brief Synopsis

A man named Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) was wrongfully jailed for a crime he did not commit, there he met a con, Ellis Boyd 'Red' Redding (Morgan Freeman) who is capable of supplying different types of items to the inmates. Both were bonded over the years, sharing happiness and despair towards the end.

Review..

I'm extremely impressed with the detailed storyline well-written, screenplay and the good selection of actors. The film is carefully produced so that the viewer can actually fully understand the whole process of the story without being confused. I’m especially fond of the slight climax in the middle of the story, but had hoped the ‘part‘of the movie had turned out otherwise, in which I’m sure would make the story even more interesting. Moreover, the clever narration by Morgan Freeman is an added attraction to the movie.

No doubt this is an excellent film, but I don’t find this film as great as its reputable. Probably, due to the reason that there are many other films being produced during the period from when this film is produced until the day i actually watched it. The reason being said so is because as the film goes on, I could find other films that i find certain similarities in terms of character portrayal, the theme and so on.

Overall, this is a well made movie which has a meaningful message towards the end of the film. Even so, I supposed such a classical movie would prove to be worthwhile to watch if you are an avid movie fan. How I wished that I could have come across this film much earlier which I’m sure it would an altogether a different experience

Tell me what you think.

The Expandables (2010)

The-Expendables-movie-poster1-404x600

Woot! Look at the poster..  Look at how many action stars are featured in this movie!  I bet all of you are anticipating for this film.. let's take a look of what they had in stored for us.

A Brief Synopsis

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of mercenaries  are hired to take down a vicious dictator in Vilena, a fictional country in South America.

Review..

I’m sure everyone is expecting this to be a hit considering the huge amount of stars in a single film. In fact, it is a ‘Hit'’ worldwide, generating $34.8 million in its opening week.

Sadly, to say.. I wasn’t impressed with the film at all. Maybe I have had too many expectations on them, or maybe they are just aren’t that good but whatever, one mans’ meat is another man's poison right.??

Let’s come back to the reviewing part, this is supposed to be an action movie, but I find that amount action scenes are too few to be true, as the matter of fact, I can actually recall how many of them were there in the whole movie. No doubt, there is one astonishing scene that ‘woo’ us all, yeah only 1.

Next, let's talk about the casts, we all heard rumors that Sylvester Stallone is in debt while after the movie was made right?? :)  I wasn’t sure at first, but I got convinced once  I saw the female lead. Oh My Gosh.. I think they are pretty out of budget that they have to hire someone who got no looks, no body figure,  and cant act, yeah I'm serious. Well, I never like Sylvester Stallone’s acting that much, and this movie did not change that fact either, but I gotta admit, he is much better now. However, there is this one man who made the film get interesting when I was falling asleep, and that guy is…….Jason Statham!!! Yeah, its been years since ‘Transporter 1',’ and this guy is still good as ever.. Especially the scene at the basketball court.. Now that’s what I called action.. And let’s not forget the Chinese guy, Jet Li, I don’t really know why he had accepted such role, I mean for someone like Jet Li  to play a clown is just too much! He is better than that, you know what I mean. Well, maybe he is doing Sylvester a favour, who knows?

Expendables V.S. A-Team??!!

I had this friend who made this interesting statement, I heard him said “ Expendables is better than A-Team!”. OK, I did not comment earlier is because I want to save it for this blog. Here is what I got to say:  Expendables' is no where near A-Team, in terms of  the storyline, acting, action scene, and even the conclusion of the film beats The Expendables’ flat! Not to even mention the weak plot of the film..

Well, that’s all I got to say :) Thanks for reading!

Fair Comment? Tell me what you think.
